You surely know the British Isles are – without any doubts – the birthplace of the golf. But what you maybe don’t know: Czech Republic is an undiscovered golf destination! Thanks to its excellent international access, good speed of play around the courses, a safe and secure destination and tremendously welcoming hospitality, in addition to the high quality courses, the country was awarded with the “Undiscovered Golf Destination Award 2007”. This prestigious award is given by a panel of 60 golf journalists from 15 countries. Despite the tough competition between 17 other candidates, Czech Republic carried off the award which represents one of the greatest achievements for the country in the field of golf tourism.

And there is more Czech Republic has in common with longtime British golf tradition - the oldest golf resort in this country was opened in 1905 by Edward VII, King of England as the only one bearing name “Royal”. It is situated in famous spa town Marienbad and, up to this day, it still belongs among the pearl of the golf resorts. Czech Republic is known as “heart and jewel of Europe”. It is not only due to its location, but it is also thanks to many historical and culture monuments, many of them being even older than 1000 years.

So, what do you say - golf in the Czech Republic? Yes, of course! Here, golf means superb courses and a unique atmosphere. There are more than 70 high quality golf courses waiting for you, of which the oldest were created over 100 year ago in the world-known West Bohemian “spa triangle” – Karlsbad, Marienbad and Franzensbad. Also around Prague, the capital of this beautiful country, the best courses with the highest standard of services can be found. In a word, in the Czech Republic, golfers can experience a unique combination of nature beauty, historical sites and their favorite sport as hardly anywhere on the Old Continent.

Maybe the best example are the words of Peter Walton, the President and Chief Executive of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators, he said upon his visit to Prague: "Golf in the Czech Republic is of such a uniformly high quality that the country has the potential of becoming one of the most successful golf destinations in Central Europe. We are steadily experiencing an extraordinary golf boom, underlined by the fact that the number of golf courses increased significantly in the last ten years and now it reaches 74. It is expected that about five new courses will be registered this year.”

Winning the international award brings with it a certain feel-good factor, as well as a number of obligations and the necessity to respond to international interest on a national level. This, of course, means focusing on foreign clients and constant improving of the existing facilities. Czech Republic invites all golf tourists to come and discover an undiscovered destination. If you have in mind to play authentic golf and to experience the merging of challenging courses, ever-present unique history and unforgettable landscape, then keep track of information given in our Golf Tours section.
